Wedding keepsake toys don’t have to be memory bears!

May 29, 2023 | A day in my life, Blog

Wedding toys are a fun way to mark a special occasion – as a signature toy for guests to sign or as a special memento made after the wedding (from the wedding dress and groom’s outfit). Lots of people have sewn wedding memory bears from my teddy bear patterns BUT what has amazed me is the more unusual Funky Friends Factory patterns that people have used to make special wedding toys…

…from LIONS to

GUINEA PIGS!

Let’s take a look!

This is the perfect way to recycle a vintage wedding dress! Kim Maddern made great use of those extra special fabric roses placed around Horsey Horse’s neck!

Lizze also sewed this gorgeous Giddy Goat as a wedding keepsake, She said it was made from a gents wedding outfit. Sadly he passed away in May after battling terminal cancer. Both he & his wife are Capricorns so the goat was the ideal choice.

It’s not an unusual animal keepsake but I included this memory bear as it is absolutely GORGEOUS! Melody Memory Bear sewn by Rachel Hawes as a wedding memory bear – sewn from the same wedding dress as the Raff Giraffe above!

Well, that will have given you some fun ideas for your next wedding gift!

Those are all so beautiful! I wore my mom’s wedding dress from 1939. I can’t imagine tearing it apart to makes animals. But then again, it is just sitting in a box on my closet shelf.

Hi Alice, I guess making a wedding memory bear is a great way to keep a precious wedding dress in the family if it’s not going to be worn again because you don’t have to part with it!!! ☺️
