Recycle your pre-loved clothes into gorgeous soft toys!

Feb 11, 2015 | A day in my life, Blog

I got a lovely message from Karen Devonshire‎ who made this gorgeous version of my Puppy Pete Dog toy pattern for her grandson. She thought he turned out rather cute and I agree!

Where did she get that cute fabric?

She recycled a pre-loved ladies blouse that she bought from the local St Vinnies store (for $6) to make her Puppy Pete. This must be so much better for the planet than buying a manufactured toy, I think Karen was thinking of her grandson’s future and she made a charitable donation in the process too!

I love how she says, “He started from meagre beginnings”. Who would have thought this shirt would make such an adorable Puppy Pete? 😀

It’s amazing what you can make from your old clothes…. a little imagination… oh, AND a Funky Friends Factory toy sewing pattern, of course!! 🙂

I’d love to know if you have made a Funky Friends toy from recycled clothing?

If you haven’t, which would you make?

I made Kitty Kate out of a pair of old wool dress pants. The pants no longer fit but I loved the texture of the fabric; the cat I made turned out great, one of my favorites!

That’s amazing, I have some shirts which would definitely look much nicer as toys – thanks for the inspiration!
