Fun stuff to make with fabric scraps.

Jul 9, 2008 | Blog, NEW Toy Patterns

I thought I’d experiment with some fun things to do with left over scraps of fleece. If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably have a whole ROOMFUL of fabric and will love these fantastic ways to make something “FUNK-tional” with the scrap, and maybe not so scrappy, bits of material you have in your sewing room!

The fleece hats pattern should be able to be adapted to fit every member of the family, well, the 2-legged types! I thought of a fleece dog jacket because I have made these for our little mini-foxie, BUT I wouldn’t know where to start for our Labrador! It’s a good thing she doesn’t feel the cold.No 2 dogs are the same so I thought I’d let that one pass.

At the moment my favourite creation, is the Mousepad the wrist rest. The idea for Mouse Pad came to me because I got such a sore pressure spot on my wrist whilst working on my pc. I thought I’d design something from my scrap fleece to use as a little cushion for my wrist. I knew I was onto something when I found my husband using the prototype of this cute little fellow whilst shopping for car parts on ebay!

Well, that’s all for now folks,

.
Hope you like them!

I really need to remember to take photos of the hats I have made with this pattern! I keep giving them (by the bagful) to my sister who works in the local NICU, so she can pass them on to babies in need. For the tiniest micropreemies, I am able to use some SMALL scraps, and the parents appreciate them soooo much!

I LOVE how simple they are, and how fast they stitch up, especially the “crown” hats and the “tied knot” ones! Too cute!!!!! This is one of those “Must have” patterns since you KNOW you will have scraps of fleece left from all of your projects 🙂
Have also made them (in much larger sizes) for my own kids (5 and 6 years old) and matching ones for their dolls. Again, you can size this pattern so easily!
