OK, let’s talk BUNNIES!

We have a QUICK reference guide, then a description of each of the 3 bunny patterns to help you choose the right one for your project – and lots of fabulous feedback photos – so you can see the difference between the Bunny Patterns!👍

QUICK-REFERENCE:
🐰Bunny comparison!🐰

  1. Baby Bunny pattern: best for babies, great for a first Easter or baby shower gift, or if you’ve got lots of bunnies to sew.
  2. Easter Bunny Buddies pattern: perfect for toddler’s Easter basket, makes a beautiful baby clothes keepsake, and he’s an harmful of cuddles.
  3. Kawaii Bunny Pattern: popular first toy sewing project for kids, especially great as an Easter crafting gift for use with a child.

1. Best for Babies: (Baby Bunny Pattern)

Let’s begin with the bunny that’s best for a baby or child’s 1st Easter! Baby Bunny was the very first Funky Friends Factory pattern, and he’s still hopping along after over 20 years. Yep, he started it all. You can make this toy entirely baby-safe by using easy hand embroidery for the face or sewing on felt features. He’s an easy pattern for a beginner and fast to sew. Baby Bunny is sized just right for infants and new baby gifts.

What Size is the Baby Bunny?

Finished toy size: 40cm / 16 inches

Paula Blevins uses the Baby Bunny pattern to make toys for donation to a local charity for new moms and their babies. For size comparison, here’s Paula’s adorable toddler grandson posing with some Baby Bunny toys before they hopped off to the charity. These bunnies are sewn from fleece fabric and have hand-embroidered eyes (a French knot is all you need). Paula used a felt triangle as a nose, but you can use embroidery floss, too.

And here’s the Baby Bunny in comparison to a baby. This one was sewn by Corinne Steele.

This beautiful Baby Bunny sewn by Lorilyn Wilkes, was spotted hanging out in the flower bed!

2. Best for Toddlers or Keepsakes: (Easter Bunny Buddies Pattern)

If you’re making a toy for a toddler or a clothing keepsake, the Easter Bunny  Buddies pattern is the pattern for you! The Easter Bunny Buddy is the biggest of the bunny patterns. This bunny is a cuddly armful with floppy arms and legs!

What size is the Easter Bunny?

Finished toy size: He’s 9″/22cm (seated), 15”/38cm (standing), and 22”/56cm (from toe to tips of extended ears/ears UP!)

For size comparison to an actual child, here’s one of my all-time favorite pics of the Easter Bunny  Buddies pattern getting some love. This one was sewn by Angie Elwood made from the little girl’s upcycled baby receiving blankets.

And here’s the Easter Bunny Buddy in comparison to a baby. This one was sewn by Erica Woolmington, using minky fabric which is extra soft and cuddly!

The Easter Bunny Buddies sewing pattern has a lot of space to show off cute fabric designs, and that’s how a lot of memory toy makers use the pattern! This adorable baby keepsake toy was sewn by Kate Webster who used the large flat one-piece, tummy space to embroider the baby’s birth stats!

The Easter Bunny Pattern is a popular pattern used for sewing memory toys. Orsolya Czili posted her version with a cute caption – “Here is my Easter Bunny 🥰🐰 made of my baby’s clothes for her. I’m in love. 😍”

The easter Easter Bunny  Buddy’s large ears are also a fabulous space to add text or highlight a special item of clothing for a memory toy like Amy Ruitland Jones has done – adding the child’s name and intials.

Jaclynn England used used the Easter Bunny  Buddies pattern to make a baby keepsake for her daughter – looks like she’s pretty pleased with her new pal!😍

The Easter Bunny  Buddies pattern looks very cute in seasonal fabrics like this delightful bunny sewn by Emile Gorham. 😍

The Easter Bunny Pattern looks really cute in fluffy fabrics too, like Cuddle, minky and faux fur. This pair of pretty bunnies was sewn by Laura Patterson.

Judie F. named her version of the Easter Bunny Buddy sewn in sparkly faux fur – “Pinky Sparkles” …and I think that’s pretty perfect! ✨

3.Best for Kids to Sew: (Kawaii Kuties Bunny Pattern)

This is the easiest of the 3 Funky Friends Factory bunny patterns. This pattern comes with a little diaper and bib, complete with carrot applique.

What size is the Kawaii Bunny?

Finished toy size: 31cm / 12 inches

This toy is probably bigger than you expect, but that just makes him easier to sew! I don’t have a pic of a child holding the Kawaii Bunny BUT the Kawaii Kuties are all the same size. For size comparison you can see 6 year old Kinlee, with the Kawaii Fox she sewed in the TIP box below…

TIP: SUPER sewing pattern
for teaching children to sew!
🧵
✂️

With only 4 main pieces, the Kawaii Bunny is a brilliant bunny pattern that you can use to teach a child to sew. (There are LOTS of other animals to choose from in the Kawaii Kuties range. There’s also a bear, cat, chick, dog, fox and raccoon.) Kinlee is only 6, but with her mum guiding her on the sewing machine, she sewed her own Kawaii Kuties Fox!

Here’s a cute Kawaii Kuties Bunny Pattern in its felt outfit, sewn by Jen Hales. This pattern does NOT use plastic eyes, so it’s baby-safe AND you can whip it up fast with supplies you have on hand. Not sure about hand sewing for the face? Fabric glue works great, and there are other kid-friendly options: you can use fabric markers, fabric paint, or HTV (heat transfer vinyl).

Geraldine Yeo sewed this pretty pair of Kawaii Kuties Bunnies out of Tula Pink hexies. 💗

Here are two more Kawaii Kuties Bunnies sewn by Marie P. These bunnies have apples on their bibs because the Kawaii Kuties can wear each other’s clothes. You can see the whole range listed under “Kawaii Kuties” in the alphabetical pattern listings at the top of this page under the SHOP section.

I hope this helped you to decide which Bunny pattern BEST for YOU!😄
