Billy Reue Fabric GIVEAWAY ~ plus a free Funky Friends Factory pattern!

Jun 18, 2024 | Blog, Competitions & Giveaways

I love going to the Houston Quilt Market. It’s where I release the NEWEST Funky Friends toy patterns and get to meet up again with the fabric shop owners who stock Funky Friends Factory printed patterns. I ALSO get to meet some FAMOUS people ~ like Billy Reue who designs fabric with Free Spirit Fabrics!

It was fun chatting to Billy at Quilt Market and hearing how he got into fabric design. He is actually an architect and it was only when he visited a quilt shop with his sister that it sparked his interest in fabric!

Billy has gone on to create colorful, interesting geometric fabric prints. This is his first fabric range is called Mosaic.

It was pretty cool that Billy was really excited to make some Funky Friends Factory toys out of his fabrics. Look how cute the Gertie Gecko Toy Pattern looks sewn in Billy’s Mosaic Chandelier Lights Out fabric!!!!

Click HERE to purchase the Gecko Pattern

The Mosaic Fabric range would make AWESOME toys…

For obvious reasons, I think Billy’s Mosaic Conifer Sprout fabric would be great for my Diggles Dragon Toy Pattern .

Click HERE to buy the Dragon Sewing pattern.

I think Billy’s Mosaic Chandelier Medium – Gold fabric would be great for my Lloyd Llama & Alice Alpaca Pattern.

I think Billy’s Mosaic Stretch – Spectrum fabric would be great for my Coco Chameleon Pattern .

To me the decision who would look best in one of the mosaic patterns is a hard one. it’s a close tie between Monty (my all-time favourite but i already own the pattern), Oreo the orca (think of the amazing contrast between black back and colourful patterned belly) and sparkles the seahorse (i imagine different colourful patterns allover and only fins etc in a contrasting uni fabric).

I think Mirage – Dusk would look great on Diggles, and so many choices would look good on Coco or Aristotle. I’d also like the multi-colored “half-square triangle” shown next to the photo of Billy on Diggles. So much fiery red & orange on the dragon!

I have just made 2 Patty the cows in Aboriginal print for my granddaughters 18th birthday, so I’m sure she would come up stunning in a mosaic print.
I really love the gecko in the mosaic, stunning use of that print and I’ve been looking for a fabric for the giraffe for my granddaughter and think the mosaic gold fabric would be perfect.
I just love them all though and can see animals in all of them, luckily I have 14 grandchildren that love what I make for them 🤗

Oh, how fun to match a pattern to these fabrics!
I choose Punju Peacock who would be splendid in Billy’s fabrics, such as Lantern, Leaded Glass, Stria Large, even Chandelier and Conifer because I see her fabulously in turquoise fabrics!
I enjoyed Billy’s Instagram and made posts on my FB – Joyce Ireland. Not sure how to make a link.
    Thank you for hosting.

I think Belinda Butterfly’s wide wings would showcase Billy’s fabrics beautifully! You could use any one you’d like, but I envision Conifer-Sprout for the wings, and Grisaille-Scarlet, Chandelier-small aqua, and Spectrum-Stretch for the body pieces.
